Honda, Mazda and Nissan have issued an airbag recall related to potentially dangerous airbag defects. This airbag recall affects millions of vehicles worldwide.

In question are defective airbags produced by automotive industry supplier Takata Corp. Such airbags might explode.

Among the new airbag recalls, Honda Motor Co. recalled 2.03 million vehicles due to defective airbags. Just over half of those were sold in North America. The vehicles were from model years 2002 to 2004.

Mazda Motor Corp. recalled nearly 160,000 of its vehicles for airbag defects. These vehicles also were from model years 2002 to 2004.

Nissan Motor Co. recalled 755,000 vehicles because of defective airbags. Those vehicles, sold worldwide, were from model years 2001 to 2003.

The automakers say they’ve received reports of no crashes, injuries or deaths so far involving the defective airbags.

In June of 2014 Toyota made an earlier airbag recall involving over 2 million Toyota vehicles.

In 2013 Honda made a previous airbag recall of a million Honda vehicles due to similar airbag problems, again involving supplier Takata.
