voter registration events

Many citizens eagerly await their chance to vote in the Nov. 8 presidential election. Yet others may figure they won’t vote at all.

Voting is not just your right. It is your duty. Voting is a vital part of our democratic process, enabling citizens rich or poor, famous or obscure and old or young to make their voices heard.

We shouldn’t try to think of reasons not to vote. We should embrace and exercise our hard-earned right to cast a vote — a right achieved and protected over many decades by heroes of the U.S. Armed Forces.

Citizens who do not vote do not deserve to criticize the election’s results. Citizens who do vote are active participants who have a stake in what ensues.

The right of all U.S. citizens to vote was not properly achieved until the Voting Rights Act of 1965. Prior to that law, many people were denied the right to participate in the voting process. And even since voting rights were established, some people have believed that their individual vote wouldn’t matter.

But the reality is that it does matter, because each individual vote adds up. That’s why it’s imperative that we engage in constructive dialogue about voting in this election, from the office of president to the bottom of the ticket.

Jim Adler & Associates has been active in Texas communities for over 40 years. To continue this dedication, the law firm announces a new initiative: YOUR VOTE MATTERS!

In collaboration with the League of Women Voters, Jim Adler & Associates will hold a voter registration drive at its law firm’s four locations in Houston, Channelview, San Antonio and Dallas.

At each office, on the days listed below, volunteer Deputy Registrars will be on hand to register people to vote and to provide information on poll locations, absentee ballots, early voting and voters’ rights.

The events are bipartisan. Jim Adler & Associates and the League of Women Voters are not affiliated with any political party.

Please keep in mind that Oct. 11 is the last day to register to vote in Texas. So now is the time – the time to ensure we keep and use the opportunity to express our opinions and influence change with one of our most important rights: the right to vote..
