Reglan lawsuits help today's victims and prevent future ones

reglanWhen it comes to the defective drug Reglan, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has had enough. This year the FDA issued its fabled "black box warning" -- its most severe admonition -- on the labeling for prescription pharmaceuticals containing the generic drug metoclopramide, also known under the brand name Reglan. Users are now formally warned that the drug which is often used to treat acid reflux or heartburn can be extremely dangerous.

That warning continues from the longtime Texas personal injury law firm of Jim S. Adler & Associates. When Americans are harmed through the negligence of pharmaceutical companies, an Adler defective drugs lawyer or attorney stands ready to press action such as Reglan lawsuits to recover any damages that innocents may have suffered. With Reglan, these damages can take the form of medical bills, lost present and future salary, and pain and suffering when the defective drug leads to a dire condition known as Tardive Dyskinesia.

That condition, also called TD, can cause a lifetime of involuntary muscle movements throughout the human body. Victims may have difficulty walking, talking, swallowing or breathing, and their arms, legs, feet, hands, toes, fingers, head and torso may twitch and jerk involuntarily.

Sufferers also may experience involuntary smacking, pursing and puckering of their lips; blinking, bulging and rapid movements of their eyes; thrusting or protruding of their tongue; and grimacing of their facial muscles.

If you or a loved one has experienced these side effects or other symptoms as a result of taking Reglan or another drug containing metoclopramide, such as Maxolon or Octamide, alert a physician immediately. Then engage a Reglan lawyer or defective drugs attorney with Jim S. Adler & Associates. Your Adler Reglan attorney can seek the full extent of compensation from negligent manufacturers to which you are legally entitled.

Tardive Dyskinesia threatens all Reglan users

Those who are most at risk of suffering such Reglan side effects as Tardive Dyskinesia include the very young and the elderly, especially elderly women. Also, any long-term user of Reglan is at great risk. The FDA has approved Reglan for short-term use only, but that doesn't mean some physicians won't have their patients take it long-term. The FDA says this should be done only if the potential benefits could outweigh the risks in cases of extreme need.

Even on a short-term basis, the FDA urges that Reglan be used only for 4-12 weeks, and only when more conservative methods of treatment have failed. Such a warning comes with the "black box" label on Reglan packaging for products harboring metoclopramide, such as Reglan tablets, Reglan injection and metoclopramide oral solution.

Tragically, even some persons who take Reglan short-term may be afflicted with TD, or Tardive Dyskinesia. Also, the condition may not become apparent until after they have finished taking Reglan and it is too late to respond by curtailing its use. Even more tragically, there is no known treatment or cure for Tardive Dyskinesia, making this condition essentially a permanent and debilitating one.

When such harm is inflicted on innocent Americans via the negligence of pharmaceutical manufacturers, the defective drugs lawyers of Jim S. Adler & Associates confront and attack it. Through Reglan lawsuits, the law firm not only can gain compensation for victims, but can send a loud and clear message to pharmaceutical giants that they will be held accountable for this and any future negligence. In this way, it is hoped, potential future victims can be spared.

In Houston, Dallas, San Antonio or other Texas cities, and in states from California to New York, Reglan lawsuits are a means not only of providing victims with economic recovery, but of admonishing the pharmaceutical industry in a way which could lead to a better future. Let an Adler Reglan lawyer or Reglan attorney fight for you in this battle for a safer, healthier America.
