A defective road lawyer can smooth your course

Defective road conditions of state highways cause car accidents. Local municipalities, depending on the county you are in, as well as state agencies have hundreds of thousands of miles under their maintenance and control throughout the United States. They have a legal responsibility for dangerous roadways.

If you have been injured in an accident as a result of the negligence of others, call a defective road lawyer for a FREE consultation at 1-800-505-1414, or fill out our FREE case evaluation form.

Some situations which may define dangerous roadways:

  • Inadequate or insufficient notification of impending conditions such as construction zone, merging traffic, roads affected by weather conditions,
  • Reduction of shoulder or shoulder drop-off,
  • Roads poorly marked with highway division status, line striping and edge lines,
  • Excessive oil and/or gravel on the road due to tar and chip procedures,
  • And potholes

Most state laws allow you to collect, if you are the victim of a dangerous roadway, from either the local municipality or the state itself. They may hold the sole responsibility for injuries sustained while traveling on their roads. If you are going to file a claim against a governmental body such as the state, or one of its institutions, there are guidelines you must follow.

Within six months from the date of the defective roadway accident you are required to put that agency on written notice.

Be advised on what is within your right to recover. Limits for economic damages vary from state to state, local municipality to local municipality.

Because of the complexity and time limits usually associated with these cases, it is imperative that collection of evidence is immediate. As a majority of these cases are difficult to prove, there may be the need to hire engineers, experts at accident reconstruction, or an expert in another field to help prove and win these cases.
