Despite huge egg recall for salmonella poisoning, victims may need a personal injury attorney

egg-recall2Again, Americans are being assailed by food contamination, in this case salmonella poisoning which led to the massive recall of 228 million eggs from American stores. The eggs were produced by Wright County Egg of Galt, IA, then sent to food distributors and suppliers around the country, and were sold in Texas and 13 other states.

All recalled eggs are shelled eggs sold in cartons of various sizes.

Victims of such tainted eggs may suffer food poisoning due to salmonella, a nasty bacteria which attacks the body’s digestive system and can cause grastoenteritis. Symptoms include nausea, vomiting, cramps, diarrhea, dehydration, headaches, chills and fever.

Many cases of salmonella poisoning subside after several days and without special treatment, though it’s wise to consult your doctor if you are affected. But such food poisoning can be dangerous for very young or very old persons whose immunity systems aren’t as strong. In fact, salmonella poisoning in some persons can be fatal.

Victims of food contamination due to tainted eggs may have a legal recourse. However, they need verification that they purchased the contaminated food product and a physician’s diagnosis that they have suffered salmonella food poisoning.

Such victims can seek financial compensation for their losses, including lost wages due to missing time from work during the illness, as well as medical expenses and pain and suffering.

If you are such a victim, alert a personal injury attorney or food poisoning lawyer with Jim S. Adler & Associates by submitting the free case review form on this Web page or by calling toll-free to 1-800-505-1414.

The recall involves eggs sold with the brands Albertson, Lucerne, Mountain Dairy, Ralph's, Boomsma's, Sunshine, Hillandale, Trafficanda, Farm Fresh, Shoreland, Lund, Kemps and Dutch Farms.

Persons who purchased these brands can check the end of the carton for dates and codes. Codes P-1026, P-1413 and P-1946 reveal the affected facilities, while dates, in coded form, range from 136 to 225. Those who bought cartons with dates or codes noted here may return the eggs in their original carton to the point of purchase for a refund.

Keep in mind that this massive recall still involves less than 1 per cent of all eggs in America.

However, so far it involves 14 states receiving tainted eggs: Arkansas, California, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, Texas and Wisconsin.

Wright County Egg reportedly has been involved in earlier problems involving food contamination of the products it produces.
