Safe Kids Greater Houston is a non-profit coalition devoted exclusively to preventing unintentional childhood injury. It is an affiliate of Safe Kids USA and Safe Kids Worldwide.
Safe Kids USA was founded in 1988 to draw attention to a then virtually unrecognized issue - more children nationwide die in “accidents” than from any other cause.
Safe Kids affiliates are dedicated to teaching adults how to prevent accidents that injure and kill kids. Their efforts are focused on water safety, fire safety, bike/pedestrian safety, child passenger safety and safety in the home.
Throughout the year, Safe Kids Greater Houston holds events and sponsors activities to publicize child safety. On April 28, 2008 Safe Kids held a press conference at Houston’s popular new downtown park, Discovery Green, to kick-off National Safe Kids Week. The urban park was the perfect setting. It’s a magnet for families with a one- acre lake, children’s playground, interactive water features, dog runs and a number of other elements that all ages find attractive.
Kudos to the Houston television stations that covered the event to help spread these vital safety messages to area viewers: KTRK-TV, KPRC-TV and UNIVISION 45. Jim S. Adler & Associates, a member of Safe Kids Greater Houston, is proud to host their important child safety stories.
