Serrano salmonella lawyer can help, now that we know
You like tomato and I like serrano. Tomato. Serrano. Tomato. Serrano. Let’s call the whole thing off!
Those lyrics might not have passed muster with George and Ira Gershwin, but they certainly apply today, now that the Food and Drug Administration has pinpointed its search for the salmonella Saintpaul outbreak to two farms in Mexico — and to serrano peppers, not tomatoes, as originally believed.
Tomatoes still aren’t entirely off the hook in this investigatory tug-of-war, the FDA says, since the same farms in which salmonella was found in the irrigation supply and in peppers also could have exposed tomatoes to the same contaminated water. Jalapeno peppers also are suspect. But at least after more than three months of futile searching and more than 1,300 documented cases of Americans suffering disastrous digestive disorders, the feds seem to be onto something.Tomatoes or tomahtos? Maybe, or maybe not. Serrano or jalapeno peppers? Bingo! If I’m a pepper, you may need a doctor.
That said, until a response to the investigation eliminates, eradicates and otherwise wipes out this dreaded onslaught of salmonella, the FDA advises caution about eating raw tomatoes or raw jalapeno or serrano peppers, especially among the elderly and young children, whose immune systems make them most vulnerable to salmonella’s attacks.
But at least the cloud of uncertainty over the worst American food poisoning outbreak in 22 years seems to be lifting.
That doesn’t mean you can go merrily about your business chowing down on any food you please. But it does mean that soon you’ll be a safer eater than you’ve been since Easter.
As the Gershwins also once wrote in song, Let ‘Em Eat Cake — only, in this case, we could soon be singing “Let us eat tomatoes, or serranos, or — oh, let’s call the whole thing off!”
If you have suffered salmonella food poisoning, a serrano salmonella lawyer from Jim S. Adler & Associates can help.
