Pit bull dog bites are no laughing matter

Pit bull dog bites are no laughing matterPit bulls are no laughing matter. Unfortunately, some people think it’s funny to inflict pit bulls on others, and they don’t see why everyone shouldn’t find the same twisted humor in them.

Take comedian Andy Dick – please. He reportedly tried to check in at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas last weekend while accompanied by his pit bull – which then bit a guest. Dick was not admitted to the facility.

I can just see a dictionary’s entry for the term “no-brainer,” to wit: no-brain-er (noun) refusing Andy Dick and his pit bull admittance to your facility.

Dick is a gleefully offensive performer who’s known for pushing envelopes of witless vulgarity and mindless tawdriness while making a complete nuisance of himself. So he probably thought bringing a belligerent pit bull to a hotel where guests were trying to relax and enjoy themselves would be most amusing.

But how amusing are pit bulls? The fact is, these animals can be – not are, but can be – vicious and dangerous. In fact, just last year a Friendswood woman was attacked and killed by her own pit bull.

Other dogs can attack, too, of course, but not all breeds are as associated with attacks as pit bulls, whose organized fighting even brought down NFL star Michael Vick.

So before you shrug off pit bulls as funny, just another dog or the kind of thing your fussy grandmother should learn to put up with, think again. Many dogs have a bark bigger than their bite – tiny yappers, you know who I’m talking about — but pit bulls can have a bite to go along with it.

If you’ve been attacked by a pit bull or another dog and need a personal injury lawyer to handle your case, Jim S. Adler & Associates is ready. Sometimes a legal bite can be most effective of all.
