SOS: Yamaha Rhino ATVs invite DOAs
Any traffic fatality is a tragedy, but we can take cold comfort in the fact that many such tragedies at least involve people with a purpose. We need our cars and trucks for useful functions, and that’s what many people are pursuing when they’re killed or injured while driving or riding in them. They are trying to get from point A to point B in order to reach their job, buy groceries, pick up their kids or get home in time for dinner.
But many vehicular accidents involve no purpose at all other than sheer – or mere — recreation. These accidents may range from the wildly reckless motorcyclists who terrorize Houston’s freeways by zipping between cars at speeds approaching 100 miles per hour to the thousands of people – including too many children – who take joy rides of their own on a far different vehicle: an all-terrain vehicle or ATV.The Consumer Product Safety Commission reports that more than 700 Americans die and more than 135,000 are injured each year while riding an ATV. And almost a third of these are children.
These people don’t ride such vehicles to get to work or to get home. (In fact, ATVs such as Yamaha Rhino ATVs are illegal to operate on public roads, but instead are meant solely as off-road vehicles on varied terrains.) Rather, these people ride such vehicles just for the fun, the thrill or the kick of it.
Now, fun is a very good thing. What would the world be without it? But fun should have a safety component. Otherwise, fun morphs into injury, amputation, pain, suffering and even death, and where’s the fun in that? Crushed hands, arms and legs are common Yamaha Rhino ATV byproducts.
Instead, you can be careful and have fun. But sometimes, it’s not enough to try to play it safe, by registering your ATV, wearing a helmet and observing all rules governing them. Yes, you may be going by the book. But did the manufacturer of the vehicle share the same concerns? Or was the manufacturer solely interested in making a quick buck – or making a killing, in more ways than one — and leaving the consequences for another time?
One ATV which is coming under increasing scrutiny is the Yamaha Rhino ATV, an extremely popular brand which is reportedly extremely dangerous. Due to its narrow tires and its top-heavy design, the Yamaha Rhino ATV is even more subject to rollovers and other accidents than many other ATVs, though ATV accidents certainly plague other brands, too.
As with sports utility vehicles, which also are prone to deadly SUV rollovers, a Rhino Yamaha ATV accident may not be what most people expect when they invest in such a vehicle. But deadly Yamaha Rhino ATV rollovers are what they are getting, due in large part to manufacturer negligence.
If you or a loved one has suffered due to an ATV accident, a Yamaha Rhino ATV accident lawyer for Jim S. Adler & Associates will show no such negligence, but will pursue valid cases in such a way as to compensate victims. A Yamaha Rhino ATV accident attorney also may convince manufacturers that it’s in their best interests, too, for such vehicles to be safer.
