A tractor trailer large truck kills large numbers in Texas-to-Mexico accident

Large passenger buses are inherently dangerous. Big rigs, diesel trucks, semi trucks, 18 wheeler trucks or tractor trailers  are even more so. Combined, how dangerous are they? You do the math.

The tragic numbers after a recent bus-truck crash in northeast Mexico were 11 bus passengers killed — including 10 United States and Canadian tourists — and 15 injured when a tractor trailer went out of control and swerved into oncoming traffic, smashing the bus, Mexican authorities said.

As usual with such incidents, the diesel truck driver survived with only injuries. The bus driver is dead, along with 10 passengers. Those who were injured reportedly are in “grave” condition.

The bus carried largely retirees and had left McAllen, Texas for central Mexico. Now many are dead because of what appears to be a tractor trailer driver’s inability to control his large diesel truck. Such carnage from enormous, hard-to-manage big rig vehicles and diesel trucks is all too common, and the companies which operate such semi trucks must be held accountable. If you or a loved one is harmed in an 18 wheeler, big rig, semi truck, tractor trailer, diesel truck or other form of large truck accident, get a free case review and alert an 18 wheeler accident lawyer or big rig attorney with Jim S. Adler & Associates. Such a tractor trailer accident lawyer or semi truck accident lawyer can press for the financial compensation you deserve after the tragedy of a large diesel truck accident.

18 wheeler, diesel truck carnage is steady, but never ‘routine’

A problem with waking up Americans about the carnage on their roads and highways is that traffic tragedies, though they take an enormous toll, are incremental. Six die in Florida. Two more die in East Texas. It’s news, and it’s shattering to the victims’ immediate families, but in the broader news context of a given day, it tends to slip in beneath the radar.

Of course, at the end of the year will come the news that another 40,000 or more Americans have died in traffic accidents. But that cumulative amount spread out over 365 days won’t have the same impact as if those people had died simultaneously, or from one cause.

18 — as in 18 wheeler — can be an unlucky truck accident number

In many ways, driving is all about margin of error. Or in gambling terms, it’s about odds. When you drive defensively, you enhance your odds, along with the margin of error by you or another driver. If you tailgate, drive too fast, change lanes suddenly, cut off other cars and otherwise are reckless, your margin of error – your odds – will only shrink.

Many reckless drivers have been lucky for so long that they figure this margin of error doesn’t apply to them. They figure they’ve been able to tailgate, speed and whip in and out of lanes so many times without an accident, that why shouldn’t they keep doing it? Of course, sooner or later such odds may catch up with them. Sooner or later, someone may pay a horrible price for their recklessness. (more…)
