Archive for the 'Paxil' CategoryDrug company pays millions to victimsGlaxoSmithKline (GSK) is paying a $41 million fine for selling contaminated drugs all over the United States. A GSK plant in Puerto Rico made the drugs between 2001 and 2004. They include the anti–nausea drug Kytril, the antibiotic ointment Bactroban, the anti-depressant Paxil CR and the diabetes drug Avandamet. The plant where the contaminated drugs were made was closed in 2009. In some cases, pills of different strengths were put in the same bottle. In others, pills of different types were packaged together. And in some cases, the medications were simply contaminated. (more…) |

Archive for the 'Paxil' CategorySSRI prescribed in ‘Glee’ may spur a depressing use of an antidepressant
Though an SSRI might ease the OCD of Mays’ character, high school counselor Emma Pillsbury, it’s troublesome that the psychiatrist would prescribe it for a woman without first asking: “Are you pregnant, or do you expect to become pregnant soon?” That’s because many SSRI drugs — though they may ease depression and anxiety — also may lead to serious birth defects for the offspring of women who take them during pregnancy. Archive for the 'Paxil' CategoryHeart, lung, brain and other Paxil birth defects plague America’s newborn infants
This defective drug has been shown to cause dozens of birth defects, from heart, lung and brain ailments to defects of the spinal cord, digestive tract, urinary tracts, abdominal wall and limbs. Some birth defects occur naturally and may be hereditary. Paxil birth defects do not. Paxil birth defects are directly caused by a defective drug taken during pregnancy. |

Archive for the 'Paxil' CategoryPharmaceutical companies kill 200,000 Americans yearly, enabled by murky foreign testing of new drugs
You may wonder why. You may believe that new drugs are always pre-tested in pharmaceutical trials to ensure their safety. How can such drugs then kill thousands while earning billions in profits for their manufacturers? |

Archive for the 'Paxil' CategoryFeds fine GSK $750 million for mislabeled, contaminated drugs, including Paxil
While British-based GSK makes billions of dollars in profits by selling drugs, it too often fails to use those profits to safeguard its customers. In this case, the government found gross negligence by GSK at its factory in Cidra, Puerto Rico. There, the feds found that GSK was producing drugs for sale to Americans which were mislabeled, contaminated with micro-organisms and had the wrong dosage. |

Today, the FDA alerted patients and health care professionals that it will substantially limit Avandia’s use for Type 2 Diabetes patients who depend on the drug and can’t take any other to control their Diabetes. Archive for the 'Paxil' CategoryPaxil birth defects spur defective drug lawsuits
Paxil even could affect a newborn’s life if the mother starts taking it while breast-feeding her child. Thus, Paxil and babies do not mix. Yet GSK hasn’t concerned itself with such dangers while reaping up to $1 billion in sales of the defective drug in a single year. |

Archive for the 'Paxil' CategoryDrug wars? Big pharmaceuticals kill and injure, too, as with Avandia, Paxil, Accutane
Take GlaxoSmithKline, a British pharmaceutical giant whose negligence with deadly drugs seems to know no limits. GSK’s latest revealed outrage concerns diabetes medication Avandia, which carries a high risk of causing heart attacks. According to a recent New York Times investigation, GSK knew of this risk for 11 years yet covered it up, continuing to peddle its defective drug even though people were dying as a result. In short, GSK knew it was killing people and did so anyway, all in the name of money. |

Archive for the 'Paxil' CategoryPaxil side effects, surgeries can spur a Paxil birth defects lawsuit
That’s a high price to pay for the negligence of a pharmaceuticals giant such as Paxil creator GlaxoSmithKline of London, England. GSK reaps almost $1 billion per year in Paxil sales in America alone, and that huge amount is only about 2 per cent of its total annual drug sales. Meanwhile, American children are suffering horribly due to Paxil side effects injuries. |

On last week’s episode of hit Fox TV series Glee, a psychiatrist played by Kathleen Quinlan counseled a patient played by Jayma Mays and prescribed an SSRI for her OCD. That is, she prescribed a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor for her obsessive compulsive disorder.
A child’s birth can be a couple’s most glorious moment. But imagine when that moment is marred by learning their newborn infant suffers birth defects. That’s what is happening to many Americans after a mother-to-be took antidepressant Paxil during pregnancy.
You’re pregnant!
When hundreds or even thousands of Americans are killed by a war, an accident or other violent means, the nation reacts with grief if not outrage. Yet 200,000 Americans are being killed each year by an entity that rarely rises on the nation’s outrage radar: the pharmaceutical industry.
GlaxoSmithKline, or GSK, whose antidepressant drug Paxil causes heart injuries and other birth defects in innocent babies, has been hit with a $750 million fine after the U.S. Justice Department brought suit against it.
Avandia, or rosiglitazone, a drug for Diabetes patients’ blood sugar control, also can harm with heart attack side effects. That hasn’t kept Avandia off the market, but it has made the Food and Drug Administration heighten its warning for the defective drug.
Across America, innocent children are suffering because a giant pharmaceutical corporation was negligent. That would be British-based GlaxoSmithKline, or GSK, whose antidepressant known as Paxil has been found to cause Paxil birth defects in the infants of women who took the defective drug during pregnancy.
The term “drug wars” often refers to violent cartels which bully, bribe and slaughter in the name of illegal drug profits. But another drug war is assailing America, and no machine guns are used. Rather, it’s a war inflicted by huge pharmaceutical companies — often foreign-based — which knowingly sell deadly, defective drugs for years while reaping monstrous profits.
Many American women have taken antidepressant drug Paxil during their pregnancy. Now many American newborn children are suffering birth defects as a result. Since 2005 Paxil has been shown to have serious side effects in newborn babies, including ailments of the heart, brain, spinal cord, lungs and other vital organs. Such Paxil side effects injuries often require surgery or even repeated surgeries to correct.
