Traffic deaths fall overall, yet motorcycle deaths rise
But with motorcycle riding on the rise, so are motorcycle accident deaths. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration says traffic deaths overall declined in 2007, yet motorcycle deaths rose. In fact, they’ve jumped from 5 per cent of the traffic death total in 1997 to 13 per cent of the death total last year, with an increase in each year. In that decade, the feds say, 75 per cent more motorcycles have been registered. With bikers almost doubling, that certainly accounts for an increase in deaths. (more…) |
