Tainted peanut butter linked to leaky roof at Conagra Plant
The tainted peanut butter was manufactured at the ConAgra plant in Georgia. It has been widely reported that the source of the contamination has been linked to moisture at the ConAgra plant. The moisture likely came from one of two sources, a leaky roof and/or two instances where the plant’s sprinkler system activated inside the plant.
Texas personal injury attorney Jim Adler is glad that ConAgra is investigating the source of the contamination. “It is critical that ConAgra determine the source of the contamination and remedy the situation before it resumes peanut butter production.” Jim Adler warns consumers that there are still many jars of the tainted peanut butter in their cupboards. Production is slated to resume at the plant this summer. Jim Adler advises that "Everyone needs to check their jars of Peter Pan and Great Value Peanut Butter. If the jar is marked with product code "2111" it has been recalled. If your peanut butter has this product code, don’t eat it! If you or a family member got sick after eating Peter Pan or Great value peanut butter, you need to seek immediate medical attention. After seeing your doctor, please call our office to see if you have a claim against ConAgra.” The salmonella outbreak linked to Peter Pan and Great Value Peanut Butter has effected a great number of Americans. The salmonella contaminating the peanut butter has been identified by the Center for Disease Control (CDC) as the rare Salmonella Tennessee strain of salmonella.
