Karishma Patel Sandesara knows that lives can be entirely disrupted by the stress of being in a car accident, and the complex nature of the insurance industry only makes it worse. That’s why, as an attorney, she is “passionate about helping those who were injured due to someone else’s negligence”.
“I make sure the responsible party pays,” Karishma says. “Don’t mistake my kindness for weakness. I practice with care and consideration, but my fists are always up.”
Born and raised in Philadelphia, Karishma was inspired by a family of “very strong, fearless and ambitious women.” She was “taught to be a leader and take control to solve problems.” She now works for Jim Adler & Associates’ Uptown/Galleria office.
As a student, Karishma earned Bachelor’s degrees in Psychology and Political Science from The Pennsylvania State University, where she studied abroad on a Semester at Sea, visiting countries including Cuba, South Africa and Japan. She gained a broader perspective of the world, and in turn developed an even stronger will to be a legal advocate for people’s rights.
She then earned her law degree from Temple University’s Beasley School of Law, where she was admitted into the Advanced Trial Advocacy program. She also was a member of the Temple Political & Civil Rights Law Review and the South Asian Law Student Association, and she served on the executive board of the Student Bar Association.
Upon graduating and becoming a lawyer, Karishma worked for a Philadelphia insurance defense firm, where she developed a keen skill set in the industry. She also has worked in New York City and Chicago. Eventually, Karishma decided to switch her practice to plaintiff’s personal injury – and she has never looked back.
After marrying “a charming Texan gentleman,” she made her home in Houston. “However”, she says, “you can take the girl out of Philly, but you can never take the Philly out of the girl.” Karishma is a die-hard Philadelphia Eagles fan for life.
Fluent in Gujarati and Hindi, Karishma is a member of the State Bar of Texas, United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, State Bar of New Jersey, State Bar of Pennsylvania and United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania.
Outside of work, she enjoys “a good challenge and trying new things” like a long hike or an interesting gym class. She also likes writing short fiction and cooking, often by experimenting with new recipes or her own creations. And having been bitten by the travel bug at an early age, she’s always planning her “next epic adventure.”
Karishma is also an avid TV critic. “My husband and I love getting into heated debates over what’s going to happen next on our favorite shows.” As for clients of Jim Adler & Associates, they can rest assured that they have an attorney who will argue for their rights, and fight to get them what they deserve.
