HOUSTON – An 18-wheeler and a Houston Police patrol car collided on an access road of Interstate 45, injuring both drivers, late Monday night, Aug. 4, 2014.
According to Houston Police, the tractor trailer was moving through the intersection of Cavalcade Street and the I-45 feeder road when a police car running its emergency lights entered the intersection and collided with it.
The big rig then jackknifed across Cavalcade and came to rest beneath an overpass.
The trucker and the police officer both suffered what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries and were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Their names and conditions have not been released.
The North Freeway crash occurred shortly before midnight. Shortly after the accident, four cars were involved in a chain-reaction crash on the overpass.
Houston Police are investigating.
